The construction game Manor Lords is currently a hit on Steam. However, many players complain that Manor Lords crashes too often. The developer dryly counters: In 99% of the crashes, the users had installed outdated drivers.
This is the situation:
- Manor Lords is currently enormous successful on Steam. At its peak, the strategy game reached 172,605 players.
- This was unexpected, as Manor Lords is a small indie title developed solo by Greg Styczen. Manor Lords is also not fully released on Steam yet, but is still early in Early Access.
- The early and unfinished state of the highly successful game brings some issues with it, as it is currently possible to trick Manor Lords with city walls. But there are also difficulties with performance and stability.
“In 99% of cases, crashes are caused by outdated drivers”
This is what the developer says about the crashes: On Twitter , a user complained: Manor Lords is more like “Crash-o Lord”, meaning it crashes too often.
The developer then responds:
99% of the crashes can be attributed to outdated drivers. And when people say “I’ve updated the drivers”, I check the logs and see outdated drivers. The other thing is that the game uses FSR by default, and people have older GPUs – for that you need to disable FSR in the settings.ini, but that will be fixed soon.

The discussion continues: When players then expressed uncertainty and asked whether he would recommend enabling FSR, the developer responded. If Manor Lords runs stably, one should not change anything and simply continue as is.
However, the safest tip is probably: Update your drivers, even if you think you have the latest.
