In Counter-Strike 2 on Steam, numerous players are complaining that they have been banned despite having done nothing wrong. However, the ban is said to be a mistake, as Valve has now explained.
In the shooter Counter-Strike 2, numerous players have just received a VAC ban. This is the worst type of ban:
- You cannot enter any game that supports VAC with a VAC ban.
- Moreover, your Steam profile will be branded with the VAC ban.
- Additionally, you cannot trade certain items and skins anymore, even if they are worth thousands of euros.
Yet, after the ban wave, many players are complaining that they are innocent and have not cheated at all.
Meanwhile, Valve has commented and explained that it is said to be a mistake. The false bans are supposed to be reversed in the near future.
Ban Affects Innocents, Developer Wants to Revoke the Ban
What kind of ban is this? On Reddit players are discussing the surprising ban in Counter-Strike 2. It seems to have caught numerous players using an Nvidia graphics card. Specifically, it seems to be due to a software update from Nvidia that has likely caused chaos.
The players are quite dissatisfied. Some complain that they have been banned while cheaters continue to roam freely in the game. One player writes:
That’s cool, but it would be nice if they would ban the real cheaters. I’ve never used a cheat or had a cheater in my group, and I woke up with a ban.
Others explain that Valve’s anti-cheat system must be working incredibly well if it is placing bans on so many innocent players.
How did Valve respond? The developers have already stated that it is a mistake. On Twitter they explained that they have now resolved the issue and want to revoke the VAC bans.
Valve has been struggling with false bans for several weeks
Has this happened before? Yes, a few weeks ago Counter-Strike 2 banned many players with AMD graphics cards. The ban was due to a new feature from AMD for graphics cards. However, this feature activated Valve’s VAC system. Again, the anti-cheat system imposed bans on innocent players.
In the current case, Nvidia owners have been affected. Some players are complaining that Valve has set the anti-cheat system in Counter-Strike 2 too sensitively and must urgently make some changes. It cannot be that innocent people receive a ban while real cheaters can continue playing.
