A player has managed to find all items in the MMORPG Oldschool Runescape (Steam) that can drop from bosses. He is the first person to have done this. The player Bazilijus worked on it for 3 years, since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic in 2020. His character has a total of 22,000 hours of playtime.
Oldschool Runescape is a successful MMORPG that represents an earlier version of the original MMORPG, similar to WoW Classic. It reflects about Runescape in 2007.
This is what the player has accomplished:
- In the online role-playing game, there is a list called the “Boss Log”: This list counts the bosses in the game and which items you have already received from them.
- If you have received all items that the boss can possibly drop, that entry in the list turns green.
- A player has now become the first person in the world to turn the entire boss list green. He reported this euphorically on June 26.
What were the toughest bosses? It is estimated that the player had to kill a boss in Runescape about 150,000 times to obtain all items. The task is purely dependent on luck and a test of patience. The items from the bosses have a very low drop chance, so it may require many, many kills to find a specific item that is still missing from a boss.
The boss that the player had to kill the most was Callisto, a magically enhanced bear. The patient MMORPG player had to kill him 10,001 times to check off all items on the loot list that Callisto drops.
The last item he received was the “Inquisitor Mace” from Phsani’s Nightmare; this boss was only added to the game in June 2021.
The last missing item he received on June 26, 2023. Solely to fulfill this part of the boss log, it is said that he spent about 1,000 hours.
A lot of patience and frustration tolerance required for success
How long did he work on it? In total, the character spent 919 days, about 22,000 hours, in OldSchool Runescape. But this particular loot list, which he saw as a challenge, was only introduced in 2018. Bazilijus only really started hunting the items with the outbreak of the Corona pandemic in 2020.
As GamesRadar knows, he was quite good with 3 years of effort. Another player tried (via reddit) to fill the collection for a single boss, Kree’arra, and alone managed to accumulate 19,000 kills just to get all 8 possible items.
Bazijlus was able to leave the boss behind after just 2,613 kills. What a lucky player.
Runescape is really a game where players push their limits, with chances that are incredibly low, but eventually, even the most unlikely event can happen:
