Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (2021)
What kind of game is this? Guardians of the Galaxy was released in 2021 and puts you in the role of Star-Lord. As Peter Quill, you take the lead of the Guardians and rush through a pretty exciting, funny, and thrilling single-player story. The game offers plenty of fights where you also command the other Guardians: Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket.
If you liked the movies, you will feel very comfortable here too, even though the game is not related to them and tells its own story. Especially the “Huddle” moments, where you rally your team in battle, crank up the Walkman, and mow down enemies to explosive 80s music, are some of the highlights in the gameplay. Most impressively, the game shines with a lot of heart: The interactions between the Guardians are a lot of fun, and you truly feel like a part of the team.
Overall, Guardians of the Galaxy may not have received the attention it deserved at release. However, for many fans, it is now a very popular entry in Marvel games history.
