Will Starfield have multiplayer? No, there is no multiplayer mode planned for Starfield. There will also be no coop mode. Starfield is completely designed as a single-player game.
Are there multiplayer mods for Starfield? The people at Bethesda have announced that Starfield is supposed to be a kind of “modder paradise”. After the release on September 6, projects are likely to emerge that deal with a multiplayer mod.
The interest seems to be great, as Starfield appears to have many similarities to MMOs at first glance. Colleague Benedict Grothaus already mentioned after the first presentation in 2022 that Starfield will be the best MMO that is actually not one.
The probability of a multiplayer mod is quite high. For The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Fallout 4, suitable mods can be found, and it is only a matter of time until dedicated modders build something like that for Starfield.
But one has to wait for the release to see what is possible with Starfield modding.
Could a multiplayer mode be added later? Currently, there are no indications that a multiplayer mode will come to Starfield with later expansions. The DLC “Shattered Space” has already been announced as the first story expansion.
