The highlight of the €300 collector’s edition of Starfield was a special watch, the ‘Chronomark Watch’. However, the first models are reportedly already failing, as a player reported on Reddit.
What kind of watch is this? The ‘Chronomark Watch’ was included in the €300 ‘Constellation Edition’ of the sci-fi epic Starfield. Despite the hefty price, Bethesda experienced a surge in demand for the special collector’s edition at the launch of the pre-order.
Even though the watch itself didn’t cost €300, it was indeed the central incentive to acquire the special edition. However, a little over a month after release, disappointment is setting in, as the first expensive collector’s items have reportedly already failed.
Player feels inadequately supported by customer service
As the Starfield player ‘Tovrin’ reported on October 7, 2023, on Reddit, his watch was completely dead after a month and a week. After charging, the watch simply wouldn’t turn on anymore, and the instructions on Bethesda’s website did not yield the desired success.
The player subsequently contacted Bethesda’s customer support, but only received an automated response referring him to the website, whose instructions he had already tried. It seemed as though his support ticket hadn’t even been read.
Several other Reddit users also report issues with their Chronomark Watch. It appears that this is not an isolated case.
Initially, Tovrin had come to terms with the loss; apparently, he just wanted to vent his frustration. However, in an update, he wrote that he did receive a proper response from Bethesda.
In this response, he was asked for a proof of purchase, his address, and other details. So it is quite possible that Tovrin will still receive a replacement for his broken watch.
We asked Bethesda for a statement and will update this as soon as we receive it.
In the meantime, Bethesda is working in the game to fulfill the community’s wishes. A new update finally provided an official solution to change the field of view using a FOV slider. However, players still have plenty on their wish list.
