After nearly 20 years, a new edition of a classic strategy game is being released today – StarCraft Remastered!
It has taken almost two decades for Blizzard to decide to give one of its biggest successes a new “remastered” version. This was also bitterly necessary, as the first StarCraft game not only looks incredibly pixelated and thus ugly today but also does not function on many modern computers anymore. Now the release has finally arrived.
StarCraft Remastered is released today, on August 14, 2017!
In America, the game goes live at 7:00 PM our time. It is expected that the launch in Europe will take place a few hours later.
The game costs 14.99€ in the Blizzard Shop and requires the “StarCraft Anthology” to play – which can be downloaded for free.
StarCraft Remastered is essentially nothing more than a graphical overhaul of the classic real-time strategy game. All mechanics and game elements are exactly as they were experienced in 1998.
This also means that the difficulty level of StarCraft in the campaign is relatively high, as most RTS games back then were significantly tougher than today. So if you’re looking for a little challenge or simply tired of 480×640 pixels, you can confidently grab it and secure an upgraded piece of video game history.
6 extensive, challenging story campaigns in SC Remastered
StarCraft Remastered also includes the Brood War expansion, delivering 6 playable campaigns (2 for each race: Terran, Zerg, and Protoss) and showcases the beginnings of the StarCraft universe. How did Kerrigan become the Queen of Blades? Why is Jim Raynor an outcast? What about the Dark Templars?
Are you excited about StarCraft Remastered and will you play it? Or should one simply leave an old game to the passage of time and not artificially resurrect it?
Blizzard is not only working on old classics but also on new titles …
