In the upcoming online shooter Star Wars Battlefront, players will get rid of microtransactions, real-money items. Players have to earn everything.
In an interview with Gamespot, Design Director Niklas Feargus explained the currency system of Battlefront. There are points and credits. Normally, one might think: One of them is a real-money currency. Not so in Battlefront. You get credits through points.

You need “credits” to unlock items for your account, and the credits are only available in-game, not through microtransactions. In Star Wars Battlefront, you complete a few missions, fulfill challenges, and receive credits for that. With these, you can unlock “Space Cards” that fit your playstyle, such as a specific blaster. This is recommended by Feargus for snipers.
Alternatively, you can accumulate credits to buy something really expensive, like access to an alien race. This way, you could be a Rodian while the rest run around as humans.

And the matchmaking system is supposed to be fair
