In the online shooter Star Wars Battlefront, the contents of the January update have been revealed. And what is included in 3 of the 4 DLCs is now also known.
We talked this morning: The first major content update in 2016 is coming for Star Wars Battlefront. It includes:
- New multiplayer modes for the Tatooine map; it was previously only playable in Survival, now there are Drop Zone, Hero Hunt, Blast, Droid Run, and Heroes vs. Villains (which was apparently confused with a “new Tatooine” map in Brazil)
- Hoth costumes for Luke and Han.
- daily challenges and community events – these are meant to be opportunities for players to earn credits faster or unlock progress
- and private matches will be introduced in Star Wars Battlefront.
So most of what was said in the Brazil video turned out to be true! When it will arrive is currently a bit mysterious. US sources mention Wednesday, while the EA blog post refers to both “today” and “tomorrow”. It should therefore appear in the next two days either way.
These free game contents coming in February and March – 3 new maps
For February, EA announces a new survival mission on Hoth and a new multiplayer map on Hoth for larger game modes. In addition, the mode Turning Point will be made available on all those maps that currently support Walker Assault and Supremacy.
In March, a new map for Endor will be released. There, players will be able to play Walker Assault, Supremacy, and Turning Point. Tatooine will also receive a new map, and there will be a costume for Princess Leia, an Endor costume.
These will be the DLCs for Star Wars Battlefront in 2016
Alongside what comes for free in the next month, 3 of the 4 announced paid DLCs have been introduced. All 4 are sold in a season pass, and this will extend into 2017.
- In March 2016, “Outer Rim” will be released, set on Sullust and in Jabba’s Palace on Tatooine
- In summer, “Bespin” will be released – the DLC focuses on the Cloud City – “Hunt or be hunted” is the motto there.
- “Death Star” will be released in fall 2016 – not much needs to be said about that
- And a 4th DLC will appear early in 2017. There is no information about that yet
