Electronic Arts and Dice are focusing on the development of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, but this does not mean that support for the predecessor will be discontinued.
In a financial meeting, Electronic Arts stated that they will now fully concentrate on Star Wars: Battlefront 2. The first part will probably not receive any further content.
Patrick Soderlund from EA explicitly mentions the Skirmishes, which are intended for fans who had wished for a single-player mode for the online shooter. The campaign had to be omitted for time reasons in order to launch the game simultaneously with the movie Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens at the end of 2015.
In summer 2016, a kind of substitute came with the Skirmish mode. This will no longer be developed, as EA announced.
Further updates are planned
Patrick Soderlund also explains that EA and DICE will not simply abandon Star Wars: Battlefront. Although no further content is planned, support will continue. They pointed out the update released in January that brought a lot of balancing adjustments and bug fixes. Such patches are also planned for the future.

This confirms that the DLC Rogue One: Scarif was the last for the online shooter. However, there is a small glimmer of hope for additional content, as Patrick Soderlund remarked that this does not mean that nothing at all will come for Star Wars: Battlefront. This likely refers to regular patches, but who knows, maybe there will still be a new map this year.
Fans can look forward to Star Wars: Battlefront 2, which will bring more heroes and characters from the Star Wars universe, will play across different time periods, and also includes a single-player campaign. A release date for the game has not yet been set – it is planned for the holiday season of 2017.
