Star Wars Battlefront: Are space battles finally coming? Off to the Death Star trench!

With the upcoming DLC Death Star, the long-awaited space battles seem to finally make their way into the online shooter Star Wars Battlefront.

A new trailer for the next DLC has been shown, in which X-Wing fighters approach the Death Star and fly into the trench known from the movie, while TIE fighters and Star Destroyers circle around the battle station. This seems to be an indication that space battles will finally be introduced with the DLC.

Are space battles finally coming?

However, space battles here might not completely correspond to what one generally envisions. Basically, they would be trench fights that presumably play out similar to the battles with the spacecraft in the main game. Only instead of flying over the surface of the planets Hoth or Tatooine, you would fly over the Death Star. Whether you will actually fly out into space and attack Star Destroyers is unclear. Generally, DICE and Electronic Arts are still being somewhat reserved regarding the DLC.

Chewie and another DLC

The fact is that the two new heroes Chewbacca and the bounty hunter Bossk will be introduced, along with additional items being added to the game. Moreover, it is confirmed that there will be another DLC. Rogue One: Scarif introduces the planet Scarif, which will play an important role in the upcoming feature film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The film heroine Jyn Erso will also appear in the DLC. One may presume that on the planet Scarif, there will be an attempt to steal the plans of the Death Star. Because that is also what the film, which hits theaters on December 15 of this year, is about.

Rogue One: Scarif will be the last DLC for Star Wars: Battlefront. EA and DICE are already working on Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
