The open beta of the online shooter Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has started, and players are trying to excel in the exciting battles. We have some tips for you to progress better.
The open beta of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 runs from today until October 9 at 6 PM. Playable are the Galactic Assault mode on the planet Naboo, the Strike mode on Takodana, and the Starfighter Assault mode at the planet Fondor. We want to make it a little easier for you to get started with some tips.
1. Pay attention to the phases and act tactically
Particularly interesting is the “Galactic Assault” mode. In this, 40 players try to achieve various objectives or prevent the opposing faction from fulfilling theirs. In the beta, this mode is divided into three phases:
- In Phase 1, the Republic clone troopers are to destroy the Separatist troop transport, while the Separatists naturally want to prevent this.
- In Phase 2, the clones must retreat to the palace while the Separatists deactivate the security systems.
- In Phase 3, the Separatists storm the throne room, which serves as a control point, and the clones’ task is to defend this place.

It is important to always act well as a team. Now that you know the objectives in advance, you can better prepare for what to expect.
2. Know the classes – Practice in “Roger Roger”
It is important to know which classes you will encounter on the battlefield. Therefore, you should always keep these things in mind:
- Classes in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 have different hit points, with the Heavy having the most health points and officers having the least. This means some enemies require more hits than others to defeat.
- Often, it is difficult to distinguish these classes in the heat of battle, so you have to pay close attention and look closely.
- First, find out how to recognize each class and how many hits they can take. Therefore, it is advisable to practice in Arcade mode first before plunging into multiplayer battles. This way, you get a feel for the weapons and the abilities of the classes.
- A good starting point is the “Roger Roger” mode, which gives you the opportunity to try everything out without the pressure of an online battle.

3. The Star Cards are important!
Also get acquainted with the Star Cards, which grant you special abilities.
Star Cards come in two versions:
- The first variant is called “Boost Cards”. These enhance your already existing abilities or those of the ship you are flying.
- The second type is the “Ability Replacement Cards”. With these, you swap one of your regular class abilities for a new one.
Notes on the cards:
- It is only possible to use three Star Cards at the same time. Therefore, you tactically decide which and how many you want to use in which category.
- Boost Cards are recognizable by a plus icon, Ability Replacement Cards by three small dots.
- Always look for new cards in crates on the battlefield or craft them yourself with “Scrap”. You get Scrap by finding duplicates in the crates.
- Loot boxes are also important, as they contain not only cosmetic items but also Star Cards, new weapons, and emotes.
4. Get used to the new spaceships
When fighting with spaceships, Battlefront veterans may need to get used to the new controls. Here are some hints:
- Unlike Battlefront 1, it is now necessary to actively aim and track the enemy with the crosshair.
- A white circle indicates where you should aim.
- To better identify infantry on the ground from your ship, you should use the zoom function. This prevents you from having to fly too close to the ground to attack foot soldiers.
- Ground targets can also be easily disabled with ion cannons. This is especially true for troop transports.
5. Make sure to utilize cannons!
Cannons are very important in Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Here are some tips for you:
- If you spawn as a cannon shooter in a troop transport, take advantage of this. Often, enemies are not aware that the gun is manned, giving you some advantages.
- However, since you cannot control a troop transport, you should not get too comfortable in the position of the shooter. If the enemies notice you, they will shoot at you from all sides, and you will respawn elsewhere quickly.
- If you notice a blue icon on the screen, it means that some ion cannons have appeared. Get these immediately. Especially against troop transports, these weapons deal significant damage.
- If someone else picks up the weapons, protect that person so you can use the firepower for a long time. However, your enemies will recognize who has the ion cannon and will quickly try to eliminate that person.
With these tips, you should have a better chance of surviving the battles in the open beta of Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
