During the EA press conference, the space battles of the “Starfighter Assault” mode from the upcoming online shooter Star Wars: Battlefront 2 were showcased.
The space battles of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be quite spectacular. At least, if you go by the gameplay video that shows the Gamescom presentation of the “Starfighter Assault” mode. The fights are incredibly fast-paced and will get your adrenaline pumping.
Attack on Fondor!
The Fondor map was showcased. There, an imperial spaceport is located, where a Star Destroyer is docked. The Rebels are trying to destroy this ship and therefore launch an attack on Fondor. The video shows not only the regular ships like TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and A-Wing, but also the hero ships. Each hero, such as Han Solo, Poe Dameron, Darth Maul, or Kylo Ren, gets his own ship with special abilities.
The video showcases a battle involving 24 players. In the end, the Rebels succeed in destroying the Star Destroyer.
Hero Ships with Special Abilities
These hero ships and their abilities can change the outcome of a battle. The developers explained that the control of the spaceships has been completely revamped. They are intended to be significantly easier to control than in the predecessor. Additionally, good tactics play an important role. Because in the case of the Fondor map, Rebel corvettes are on their way to the imperial space dock. These corvettes have enough firepower to destroy the Star Destroyer.
The Empire can prevent these corvettes from reaching the space dock at a certain phase of the battle. If they fail to do so, it will get very difficult for the Empire.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be released on November 17, 2017, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The open beta is set to start in October.
