Electronic Arts has announced another Star Wars Battlefront for 2017.
Star Wars Battlefront was one of the brightest highlights in Electronic Arts’ financial report. Ultimately, 14 million units of the online shooter were sold. Particularly important for EA: 15% of the buyers were new to the EA ecosystem.
With such numbers, it is not surprising that they are announcing a new Battlefront for the “next year.” It is not entirely clear whether EA means the calendar “next year,” that is, 2017, or the “fiscal next year” 2017, as that has already begun for EA. But one can probably assume the “calendar year.” Then we can expect Star Wars Battlefront in 2017.
As EA CFO Blake Jorgensen stated, Battlefront 2 is supposed to have “larger and better worlds.” And it will include gameplay content from “the new movies.” The first Battlefront only offered content from the original film trilogy.
The next “main” Star Wars film Episode VIII is set to hit theaters at Christmas 2017. That would also be a logical date for Star Wars Battlefront 2 – or whatever the game will be called.
