The SF-MMO Star Trek Online is launching an initiative to attract newcomers. For 7 weeks, players will receive bonuses.
The “Delta Recruitment” is a seven-week event in Star Trek Online. Characters created during this time are “Delta recruits.” They enjoy luxurious benefits that veterans would do anything for (number of fingers may vary by species).
Delta recruits play a parallel story of their faction, receive their own tutorial, and along their journey, they are rewarded with Dilithium ore (the premium currency), experience bonuses, special treasures, and numerous other bonuses. There will also be items that benefit the entire account.
“Veterans” who have filled all character slots do not have to stare at an inactive holodeck. When the event begins, they will also receive a free character slot to create a Delta recruit.
In the game, it is explained that all factions will be recruiting like crazy for 7 weeks to prepare for the conflict with the Iconians.
Outside the game, it is clear that this event is planned to offer returning players and newcomers an incentive to advance into the endgame and to present them with the new expansion Delta Rising – and to provide regular players with some variety. With a similar tactic, Star Wars: The Old Republic had great success last year.
The “Delta Offensive” will take place from April 2 to May 21.
