Even though Star Citizen is still far from a launch, the space MMO already looks fantastic. This is shown in the new trailer “Lost&Found.”
In the new cinematic trailer, crash sites of spaceships including the wrecks can be seen. In the game, you will find and salvage these wrecks all over the planets. You can check out how cool this looks and how atmospheric it can be in the trailer now. The salvage crew is cutting their way inside to see if any useful items can be found there.
Crash sites are placed by hand
Additionally, Cloud Imperium Games released a new Around-the-Verse video. This one also deals with the shipwrecks. The developers explain in the video how these wrecks and crash sites are integrated into the game.
This starts with the developers having to find suitable locations on the procedurally generated planets where a crash site will be placed. This location should look interesting to the player; hence, not just any random spot is chosen.
Then, the developers place the shipwreck there and decorate the crash site accordingly. The lighting conditions are also taken into account so that the site really feels atmospheric. Players exploring the planet should be surprised to find a wreck there that might tell an interesting story. Who flew this ship? What happened? Perhaps you will then find clues in the wreck.
A massive wreck
In the game, there is also a specific crash site of a massive spaceship that will even be recognizable from orbit. Exploring this wreck is set to be a very interesting adventure.
The crowdfunding campaign for Star Citizen is currently close to breaking the 154 million dollar mark.
