League of Legends often brings out strong emotions in us humans. Besides the many beautiful memories, there are also negatively charged moments that arise not only from fleeting acquaintances within the Summoner’s Rift but sometimes also from one’s own friends.
What did the player experience? The Reddit user, fordatrap44824, shared on the League of Legends subreddit his first experiences with the game. Although he had few points of reference to LoL and is not actually a fan of MOBAs, he gave League of Legends a chance. His girlfriend and friends had been playing it for a while and occasionally mentioned it.
When the group played together, fordatrap44824 noticed unusual behavior from his friends. Once they started a match, his friends became the most annoying and unbearable people one could imagine. Unfortunately, that was not the end of his LoL experience.
If the Reddit user made a good move, it got downplayed by his friends, saying that the opponents were just bad. The biggest thorn in his side was the constant complaining about the game situation if things weren’t going well and the opposing team had the upper hand.
What conclusions does the player draw from the experience? The player writes that his friends are not like that outside of LoL and only become unbearable teammates in the Rift. Furthermore, he writes: “I never liked MOBAs anyway, but at this point, I think I’m going to completely give up on League.”

Competitive games, especially League of Legends, can often bring out the negative sides of people. Every player should, before starting to flame, first assess the situation and, if necessary, look for faults within themselves and consider what they could have done better.
Getting upset about a failed teamfight is understandable, but it’s equally important to have the foresight to seek a new way to win the game despite minor setbacks. Constant comments about the playstyle of teammates or even friends do not ultimately lead to victory, especially when you have someone very inexperienced on the team who hasn’t been playing for long.
