Memory is currently getting more and more expensive. One player gets lucky and finds 64 GB of RAM at a fair price.
This is what the user did: One player reports on Reddit that he had been at the retailer Walmart, a US chain, and purchased memory there.
Online, the memory already cost 240 US dollars, but Walmart apparently forgot to update the prices for the merchandise in one of its stores. The player shows a picture and in another post a receipt proving that he only had to pay 139 US dollars for the memory. Converted, that’s about 120 Euros without VAT (as of: December 17, 2025).
And this price is really a fair offer at a time when memory costs have nearly tripled. The price is at the level of before September 2025.
The seller reacts quickly: But for Walmart, the offer seemed too fair. The store soon adjusted the price significantly and nearly doubled it: Now you pay 240 US dollars per 32 GB kit, which is 100 US dollars more. The user himself writes in a further post on Reddit:
They [Walmart] have now updated the price, the remaining stock now costs 240 dollars. I left it there, hoping that other lucky ones would find it, but that didn’t last long.
Prices for memory and other components have been rising drastically for months
How bad is the situation currently? Since September or October 2025, the prices for memory have doubled and in some cases even tripled, if you can still buy modules at all. In many retailers, memory is often already sold out.
This is mainly because many AI companies are currently buying computer components like memory in large quantities. And an end to this hype is probably not in sight.
Even other components are now affected: In addition to memory, prices for SSDs, M.2 SSDs, and graphics cards are also rising. Models from Nvidia are sometimes more affected. At AMD, especially models with a lot of video memory are expected to rise in price.
Are there currently any reasonable options to get memory? MyMMO has looked into the best options for where to buy RAM and presents the results in the following article: Memory is getting more expensive: We have looked into the best options for cheap RAM
