A player took on the challenge of completing Cyberpunk 2077 on the highest difficulty level, but that was still not challenging enough for him. With an additional hurdle, he still managed to defeat the toughest opponent and shares it with a video proof in the community.
What did the player achieve? The player and Reddit user Enisiph shows in a post in r/cyberpunkgame the success of his challenge: He defeated the super-cyborg and final boss from Cyberpunk 2077, Adam Smasher, on the highest difficulty level – and completely without cyberware.
No armor, no netrunning skills, or additional buffs. Without cyberware, the player is not only an absolute exception in Night City but also really vulnerable. Still, he wanted to take on the challenge, even though there is no official reward or achievement for it. He did it according to his own statement out of “pure ambition and satisfaction.”
The community celebrates this success, even though they do not fully understand why someone would want to put themselves through that. To that he only responds: “Because enough people told me it was impossible, and I am really stubborn.”
Here you see the trailer for the Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077, where cyberware has become the norm:
“The Bro plays Punk 1977”
What preparation did the player have to achieve this? Enispih writes that he used pistols (Nue) during the fight with Adam Smasher, as they most closely resemble a realistic modern weapon. A shotgun would have given Smasher too much room to attack, and assault rifles/SMGs felt useless.
The attempt took place during his seventh playthrough, so he has already gained a lot of experience in Cyberpunk 2077.
The player did not have a real plan for the challenge, just a very strong will and a lot of perseverance. Because he openly admits that he had to take a lot of hits before his success, as nearly everything could take him out in one blow: “All enemies, all weapons. Firearms (of any kind), swords, fists, everything. […]”
How does the community react? The players in the subreddit celebrate the player and turn the impressive achievement into a meme:
- amaya-aurora: “The Bro plays Punk 1977”
- ImGreenDabaduDabadi: “Greetings from Johnny Hand.”
- TrueNova332: “Smasher was defeated by the damned flesh”
- Ok_Cucumber3148: “Blackwall AIs only make your Tyger Claw tattoo itch, nothing else lol”
- professionalmoron2: “I just know that netrunners HATE to see you coming.”
Cyberpunk 2077 has even more to offer than (literally) tough opponents, namely also a huge city full of different possibilities, depending on what the player’s heart desires. Yet, despite all the options, one thing is severely lacking in Night City: Americans have found: There are too few parking spaces in Cyberpunk 2077 and have immediately found the culprit
