A user invested money in his PC, and 6 months later, his gaming PC is already broken. Now he is desperately searching for the fault. The community mainly blames a combination of the processor and motherboard for the culprit. A problem that has been troubling AMD for some time.
A user explained on Reddit that he built an expensive computer. According to his own words, his PC is “the most expensive thing I have ever bought.” However, in his post, he reports that his computer died after just 6 months. And it happened in the middle of a gaming session. He writes:
I was just playing Ghost of Tsushima when it suddenly froze. Ctrl-Alt-Del didn’t work, so I tried holding the power button for 10 seconds … but even THAT didn’t work. This has never happened to me before.
Since then, his PC will not start anymore and has died. But he is not sure what exactly caused the PC to die. The community provides him with a tip about the error, but the PC still does not work to this day.
Popular AMD CPU causes expensive problems once again
What is the cause? Some users speculate that it could be the AsRock motherboard combined with the Ryzen 7 9800x3D. Because AMD has been struggling with problems related to its processors for months: Many players have already complained that their motherboard and CPU burned out. Although AMD and various manufacturers regularly release BIOS updates, there are still affected users. One user writes:
[Ryzen 7] 9800x3d and Asrock motherboard have the potential to destroy your CPU if you don’t have the updated BIOS.
What’s next for the user? In two brief updates, he thanked the community and stated that he was able to successfully update the BIOS version of his motherboard. However, the computer still refuses to start. He added that he now wants to contact customer service. Since then, there has been no further update.
Is this problem more common? The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is currently considered one of the best CPUs if you want to upgrade your gaming PC and is also one of AMD’s best-selling processors. However, there have been reports for months that the processors are failing on various motherboards.
Several hundred cases with CPU issues are known and there may be more users who have not published their problems.
