Space Marine 2 is a challenging game, and if you want to make the Emperor happy, you need to improve. That’s why we’re providing you with 10 tips that you should know for combat and your journeys.
What are these tips? These are primarily tips that you should know for the co-op mode and the operations. These tips will help you better understand the combat system, sharpen your mind in battle, and show you what to pay attention to during your explorations. Defeat the Tyranid Majors
The Tyranids have various ranks and types of their kind. When a group approaches you, you should primarily focus on the Majors. These are the fighters with the two swords or the poison cannons.
By defeating these first, the surrounding group and the infantry will either be simultaneously decimated or wander around aimlessly without any purpose. This way, you can quickly crush a large attack in seconds without using Stims or shields.
Particularly nasty are the flying Zoanthropes. They buff other Tyranids in their vicinity and should be dealt with as quickly as possible.
Look for Gene Seed and Relics
During your missions, you will eventually stumble upon two rare items that you can pick up:
- The Gene Seed
- The Relic
While the Gene Seed grants your squad a significant XP boost upon successful extraction, the Relic serves to revive you or your allies should they fall in battle.
Depending on the current status of your mission, you should take one of the two items with you. You cannot pick up both items; you have to decide. Regarding the Gene Seed, you should also know that if you die, it will be automatically destroyed.
It is therefore important that someone from your team picks up the Seed who can take the most damage and has the highest survivability.
Use Loadout Stations and Destroy Green Boxes
In the heat of battle, your ammunition can quickly run low, so it’s important to pay attention to two sources that can replenish your supply. These include:
- The Loadout Stations
- The green boxes at various corners on the map.
The Loadout Stations allow you to switch your loadout if you want, but you can also choose the same loadout to resupply your ammunition.
You will also find green boxes at various corners and edges in the respective missions and operations. Simply destroy these with a dodge roll to receive ammunition, grenade, or stim packs.
Keep an Eye Out for Armor Data
Armor data is important items that you can randomly find in various locations during your operations. You need this data to unlock new weapon options and upgrades. They are therefore important for getting stronger weapons.
You can identify the armor data by their appearance. They are odd skulls with cables or cameras floating in the air.
Complete Class Trials for Resources
You want to quickly get armor data and requisition points at the start, but don’t know how? Then play the trials for all available classes. In the armory, you can interact with all classes and activate the skull symbol “Trials” alongside their weapons.
You will then be sent on a small mission, during which you need to briefly put your skills with the selected class to the test. If you complete these short missions, you will receive armor data and requisition points, which you can use as nice starting capital.
Destroy the Green Piles of Tyranids
In battle, you will likely encounter small green piles that the Majors can drop with their poison cannons. If you trigger these piles by stepping on them, they will explode and create a root network that can poison you.
Once you are poisoned, your vision is restricted, which can cost you your life in battle. So if you see one of these piles, shoot at it. Once you have triggered them, you can also shoot at the root network to destroy it.
Select Your Weapons Carefully
Your weapon selection is crucial for the outcome of the mission. Each gun or melee weapon has its strengths and weaknesses, is suitable for close or long-range combat, and can either take on multiple enemies at once or focus only on one enemy.
For melee weapons, a specific bar in the armory indicates whether they are suitable for large groups or rather single fighters. As for the guns, you can refer to our tier list of the best weapons, where you’ll be well advised:
Execution is Important
Executing enemies is an important function in combat that you should definitely take advantage of. During the execution, you are immune to attacks and damage from the environment for the entire animation.
So if you see a Major or an enemy that you can finish, you should rush in and execute them – this way you can take a short breather and get an overview of the battlefield. Additionally, you will regain armor.
Know When and Where to Use Which Grenades
Grenades are real game-changers. There are a total of four types of grenades that you should use as follows:
- Fragmentation Grenade
- Throw it into a group of smaller Tyranids to wipe them all out
- Shock Grenade
- Is useful against many enemies standing close together, especially when they climb walls and gather in groups
- Thumper Grenade
- Is usually worthwhile against single, tougher enemies like bosses or Majors. Upon contact, it attaches to your enemies and then explodes after a delay
- Melter
- Is good for tactical approaches. Can be placed to ambush a group and then detonate the bomb
Level Two Classes
It’s not necessary, but it’s helpful if you’ve leveled up two classes. The reason is that you might end up in a lobby where your favorite class has already been selected. Having a second class as a backup doesn’t hurt and gives you a chance to stay in the lobby instead of leaving in frustration.
