The new RPG South Park: The Fractured But Whole (PC, Xbox One, PS4) is already politically incorrect in character creation. The skin color of the player character affects the difficulty level. In other words: The slider for skin color is the same as for the difficulty level.
Update: 9.10.: It turns out that the difficulty slider has no effect on the game. This was confirmed by Ubisoft upon inquiry from Gamesradar. It was only meant as a joke. The slider only affects the skin color of the player character, not the actual gameplay. It is purely cosmetic.
Original article:
Well, the title is already strange – one could have guessed that. In the English original, the RPG is called “The Fractured but Whole”. This can be read as “The Broken, but Still Whole” or as “the torn asshole.” With such a title, it’s no surprise that character creation has its quirks.
This became clear when an embargo lifted and video material from character creation was shown. It was probably recorded at Gamescom.
Less Money as a Black Person in South Park: The Fractured But Whole
The difficulty level is directly related to the avatar’s skin color. While light skin results in the difficulty level “easy”, a dark skin tone leads to “very difficult.”
You can see the sliders in the video here:
Cartman’s voice comments on that in character creation: “Don’t worry. This won’t affect the battles, but everything else.”
The site Eurogamer has learned that this is not just an optical gag, but has an impact on gameplay. As a black person, meaning at a high difficulty level, you earn less money in the game and other NPCs interact differently with the avatar. The developers of the gaming site have told this.
Other details from character creation: There is an option to be “Male”, “Female” or “Other”.

Mein-MMO says: This can be seen as a joke or a comment on social injustices. In any case, it is typical for the comic series “South Park”, which has been airing since 1997 and is slowly running out of taboos to break that provoke any reactions. Perhaps it is still different in the video game sector, which is considered rather conservative.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is set to be released on October 17 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
