In the new stream, the developers of Soulframe presented the content of the upcoming “Preludes 11” update. Those who already have access to the fantasy MMO can look forward to exciting new features.
What’s coming with Preludes 11? The next update for the current test version of Soulframe is set to be released in September and will bring the following new features:
- The tale of the corrupted bear Bromius
- New weapons such as a type of cleaver or the weapons of the Mockery enemies (which will also come in an armored variant with this update)
- The tileset of Neath’uns
- New armor sets: 3 starter armors for newcomers and the Bromius armor
- Health recovery that will allow melee fighters to regain part of their lost life through counterattacks within a short time frame
- Customization options for the witch Verminia: transmog, dyeing, new resources
- New attack maneuvers for daggers
- Balancing adjustments for enemies (the beginning is intended to be a bit harder, as new upgrade systems will be introduced soon)
- Improved starter experience for new players
- New skins for the sparrows
A tale with goosebumps potential
What is the tale about? In Soulframe, everything revolves around the fight against an evil that corrupts nature, imprisons harmless animals, and transforms the spirits of nature into dangerous monsters. The battles against the corrupted nature spirits belong to the clear highlights of the action RPG, thanks to their presentation and musical accompaniment.
The quest line surrounding the bear Bromius is no exception, which was introduced during TennoCon 2025 in the summer. The furry nature spirit is presented as a caring character who can grow seeds with his song. However, nothing remains of that in his corrupted variant. With his three heads and deadly elemental attacks, he mutates into a dangerous opponent.
If you manage to remove the corruption from Bromius, you can expect a wonderfully staged sequence that touches you even while watching and possesses goosebumps potential. Here you can again watch the slightly more than 30 minutes from TennoCon:
How is the community reacting to the announcements? The quest line surrounding the bear was well received at the time. mydearaurora writes on YouTube: “I am crying over a bear that sings for a plant.”
But the other announcements are also well received. LongJonSilver explains on Reddit: “Sparrow skins … that’s something I didn’t know I wanted, but I want it!” TheTallZiggy celebrates another new feature on Reddit: “I am very excited about the new weapons. They all look so cool.”
What do I need to know about Soulframe? The new project from the creators of Warframe was first introduced at TennoCon 2022 and is currently in a testing phase, for which access is distributed regularly. The developers themselves describe Soulframe as a “free-to-play open-world adventure” with a fantasy setting.
The gameplay shown so far reminds one – in terms of atmosphere and combat – somewhat of the Souls games from From Software. However, the developers emphasize that despite the name, there are many more differences than similarities. The world is not as dark, the fights are not as punishing. Soulframe is even supposed to be less hardcore than Warframe.
Due to the multiplayer content and Warframe roots, the MMO term often comes up for this action title. The developers themselves avoid the MMO label. That there’s a good reason for this is shown in our playtest report: I played Soulframe for nearly 25 hours and can tell you: This is not an MMO
