The PS5 Pro is now officially available and is already in the living rooms (or gaming rooms) of many players. Despite the loud criticism, that the PS5 Pro is far too expensive at 799 euros, Sony has now stated that the PS5 Pro is selling well.
Who is speaking? Sony President Hiroki Totoki explained in an interview with the Nikkei media that the PS5 Pro is not a console for the masses, but a high-end product tailored to loyal customers. He explains:
This is a high-end product aimed at loyal customers, which is why we did not plan for large sales from the outset.

I have the impression that the product is performing slightly better than the pre-orders for the PS4 Pro in the same period, so I do not believe it will negatively impact the product’s sales plan.
The sales figures and pre-orders are clearly above the PS4 Pro, although it only costs half.
What does loyal customer mean? The simple answer is that this refers to users who have particularly high loyalty to a brand. This means: players who have been with the PlayStation family for years are more willing to buy an expensive console for 800 euros than someone who uses many different platforms and has not settled on one.
With the technical improvements, that the PS5 Pro offers compared to the regular PS5 Pro, they primarily wanted to cater to players who missed certain features on the PS5 at the time.
And it seems that this loyal customer base is now buying the console. Thus, Sony has achieved its goal.
