Since Monday, many players have reported that their account has been suspended and that they received a message from Sony (via twitter.com):
This account has been permanently suspended from the PlayStation Network due to violations of the PlayStation Network terms of service and the user agreement
Community suspects that it must be a mistake
Some speculate that it must be a mistake. For example, another user wrote on reddit:
I have received a permanent suspension, no email, no appeal. I literally played this morning. I am trying to get into a chat. They are overwhelmed on the phone, and I was the 265th (person) in the chat. This must be a mistake.
Has Sony commented on this so far? No, not yet. There has not been a public statement yet, and there are also no proposed solutions on important sites. Allegedly, the phone chat is currently also overwhelmed.
