Until Dawn is a horror game where you influence the fate of the characters. Like in a movie, many of the events in the game are depicted through cutscenes. What’s special is that you, as a player, make the decisions for the characters.
A group of young adults sets out for the annual winter retreat. But when the group splits up, the winter paradise turns into an icy nightmare. You have control over what happens to each character.

The remake is completely overlooked
What is the problem with the remake? Until Dawn was originally released exclusively for the PS4 in 2015. With the remake, players on PS5 and Steam were supposed to enjoy the horror game as well. However, the numbers at launch are even worse than those of Concord.
As reported by truetrophies.com, the game had 28.6% fewer players at launch than the biggest flop of the year, Concord. The game was already pulled by Sony shortly after launch. On Steam, the remake of Until Dawn only reached a peak of 2,607 players (via SteamDB).
For Until Dawn, various factors seem to make the game unattractive to players. On the one hand, there is the price, which is set at €69.99 for the remake. In reviews on Steam, some players state that this price is unjustified.
Another problem is the technical aspect of the game. On Steam, users complain in reviews that there are some bugs in the game. Steam user realTreqy writes, for example, that he “has to close the game with Alt + F4 every 30 minutes just because he wants to look at the totems, which are basically the core of this game”.
What new features does the remake promise? Even though the remake is not particularly well-received, it sounds quite interesting on paper. The game now runs on Unreal Engine 5 and has been given new music.
The new engine is also supposed to provide nicer graphics and characters. Some scenes have been expanded, and there are supposed to be new collectibles and additional dialogues. However, the basic story is said to have remained unchanged.
