To celebrate the now over 500 million sold PlayStation consoles, Sony is releasing a special transparent PS4 Pro anniversary edition dedicated to this milestone. This is what the latest addition to the PS4 family looks like.
Over the last decades, Sony has sold more than 500 million consoles and handhelds to date. The Japanese company wants to celebrate this event, among other things, with a specially designed limited edition of a PS4 Pro.
The Sony PS4 Pro “500 Million” Special Edition
What’s inside: The bundle includes a PS4 Pro console with a 2 TB hard drive and comes in a dark blue, transparent glossy finish. The interior will be bathed in blue light once the console is turned on.
Additionally, a transparent DualShock 4 wireless controller, a PlayStation camera, a transparent stand as well as a headset in matching dark blue look are included.
The price: The console will cost €499 here in Germany. In the USA, this anniversary bundle will be priced at $499.99. In the UK, the 500 million special edition costs £449.99.
When does it launch? This special edition of the PS4 Pro is limited to 50,000 units and will be available in Europe from August 24, 2018, at selected retailers. Additionally, there will be several sweepstakes by Sony where you can win the 500 million PS4 Pro with a bit of luck.
Unique serial number: All 50,000 consoles will be assigned a unique serial number. This will be attached to a copper plate on the front of the console. Some consoles will bear special serial numbers that represent significant milestones in the history of Sony consoles. For example:
- 09995 – September 9, 1995, US PlayStation Launch
- 01115 – November 15, 2013, US PS4 Launch
- 01013 – October 13, 2016, US PS VR Launch
Controller and headset also available separately: The DualShock 4 controller will be available separately from August 24 for €64. The headset can also be purchased separately for €89.
Starting October 11, 2018, there will also be a corresponding 500 Million Limited Edition Wireless Headset in Gold Edition, which will also be available separately. The price is not yet known.
