Son-Goku has found his wife for life in Chi-Chi. The two have two children over the course of Dragon Ball: Son-Gohan and Son-Goten. However, when it comes to having children, Son-Goku seems to have overlooked one thing, which Vegeta finds extremely surprising.
Why does he not know what kissing is? In the 60th episode of the Dragon Ball Super anime, Trunks gives a magic bean to Mai. He chews the bean in his mouth and passes it to unconscious Mai to save her.
The scene is observed by Son-Goku and Vegeta. During this, there is a funny dialogue that you can watch in English in the following YouTube video:
Son-Goku asks what Trunks is doing there, as he is pressing his lips against Mai’s. Vegeta is shocked that Son-Goku does not know what kissing is. After all, he is married and the father of two children.
Son-Goku simply replies that what does that have to do with kissing. He is not sure if that is something other people do. Vegeta then ends the conversation – visibly irritated.
By the way, Dragon Ball is currently not continuing with Super, but with Daima:
Son-Goku and Vegeta’s dialogue could be a misunderstanding
Has Son-Goku really never kissed anyone? In the first comment below the YouTube video, a user clarifies that this might be a misunderstanding and could have been lost in the English dubbing.
In the original Japanese, Son-Goku supposedly wondered much more about how the bean can be passed by pressing their mouths together. He thinks about feeding baby birds.
However, Vegeta thinks that he means kissing. The word ‘kissing’ never comes up in the dialogue between the two, which is why they do not realize they are talking about two completely different things. Therefore, Son-Goku simply does not understand what feeding through the mouth has to do with his marriage.
According to user betaruga (via tumblr), this can be attributed to the Japanese language. Such misunderstandings could happen more often because the Japanese often imply the context of the conversation. Thus, two people talk about two different things because they do not express it out loud, but think it is the same topic.
Speaking of Bulma: In both the anime and the manga, she has changed her hair color several times. However, this is not due to dyeing; it is due to something else: Dragon Ball: Bulma and her children constantly change their hair color – According to the manga, only one is correct
