Larian has expanded Baldur’s Gate 3 one last time with Patch 7, adding a lot of content. You will now find new scenes when you complete an evil run. However, some of the cutscenes are quite intense even for evil players.
Spoiler Warning: This is about the different endings of Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want to discover them for yourself, you should not continue reading. Instead, you can find some cutscenes that didn’t make it into the game here.
What are these new endings?
- Larian has promised to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to a worthy conclusion with Patch 7. Part of the update includes new end scenes that can be found specifically in evil gameplay runs.
- Since September 5, Patch 7 has been playable, but only on PC. PS5, Xbox, and Mac will follow soon. The patch is so large that it’s worth reinstalling the whole game.
- Many of the new scenes could be tested in a beta beforehand. However, some are new, including scenes created specifically for the origin characters.
This is new in the game: The YouTuber Ferzen has already discovered many of the new endings in the beta. You can find several videos on his YouTube channel, including one that shows the “generic” endings that are possible for every character.
You reach all endings only if you conquer the elder brain and accept its power to rule yourself. What happens next depends on your choices:
- If you fail a constitution saving throw, you will become an illithid and begin to implement the “Grand Design”. You turn all the inhabitants of Baldur’s Gate into mind flayers.
- If you succeed in the throw, you remain yourself. The difficulty of the throw depends on how many larvae you have eaten throughout the game.
- You can then decide whether to call the people to arms and war, have them build a huge hero monument for you, or simply execute them – including all illithids.
To emphasize the psycho-horror, your character even lies smiling among the corpses in the last option. Those who are into total chaos can force people to slaughter each other in a massive bloodbath. You can find the endings here in the video:
A new evil ending for every character
Additionally, each origin character has a selection unique to them. We do not know all of them yet, but at least a few of the new endings have already appeared on YouTube – and they are really not for the faint of heart.
Astarion, for example, declares himself the “Sun King” and rules the people as an absolute vampire. His vampire spawn live in the shadows of the city, and although he rules, Astarion occasionally feeds on the citizens.
Karlach’s ending is shown by YouTuber Iggy, and it’s quite… disturbing. The nice tiefling barbarian decides to take revenge on the city that has cast her out. She opens the gates of hell and summons devils to tear the people apart. There are weeping children to be seen while Karlach laughs just before she tears her own burning heart from her chest.
Especially intense is the ending of the Dark Urge, which already has questionable scenes in the game. As a child of Bhaal, you naturally want to kill as much as possible – and you do that, starting with the person you love.
You coldly stab your romance during a kissing scene, then force all companions to leap to their deaths and subsequently murder all the inhabitants of Baldur’s Gate by making blades sprout from them.
Patch 7 fortunately not only brings absolutely evil endings but finally also official mod support and numerous bug fixes as well as minor improvements to story and scripting. Something that “good” players will surely appreciate is that you now also have a new faction to help you at the end: A faction that helps you in the final battle of Baldur’s Gate 3 can already be obtained in Act 1 – if you become a god
