In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 the Reactor Core is an extremely dangerous and annoying ability. But with these tips and tricks, you can easily counter the superweapon.
What is the Reactor Core? The Specialist Krystof “Firebreak” Hejek from the Czech Republic has a peculiar skill called Reactor Core in the multiplayer mode of Black Ops 4. With this, he can charge a nuclear reactor for a short time and release deadly radiation in the vicinity.
What makes the Reactor Core so dangerous? First of all, the Reactor Core is an extremely effective damage-over-time effect. All enemies in the vicinity take damage and are irradiated, preventing their healing.
Anyone who does not get out of the zone quickly is doomed. Walls also do not help, as the radiation can easily pass through them.
Firebreak himself crouches in place during the Reactor deployment and can do nothing but continue to charge the reactor. However, he takes very little damage from gunfire during this phase.
Only if the player lets the reactor run for too long will he himself be incinerated in the deadly radiation.
In the hands of a clever player, Firebreak is therefore a deadly threat that can roast even well-camouflaged players in cover or drive them out of their hideouts into the crossfire of his teammates.
How to defeat Firebreak despite the Reactor
Tips against Firebreak: As already mentioned, Firebreak is difficult to kill as a solo player in Reactor mode due to his defensive buff. But fortunately, there are alternatives to spoil his fun anyway. YouTuber Drift0r has compiled some tips for you:
- Take him in a crossfire: Since you usually do not have enough firepower alone to kill Firebreak in time, you should simply take him in a crossfire with your team.
- Use grenades: If you have a 9-Bang or a Concussion Grenade, use it against Firebreak when he activates his reactor. The effect of the grenades will interrupt his skill, and you can easily shoot him then.
- Shock him: If you are playing the Specialist Prophet, you can shock Firebreak with your Tempest rifle and thus interrupt him.
- Blast him away: If you have a particularly powerful Specialist weapon, such as War Machine, Purifier, or Annihilator, you can take Firebreak down with one or a few hits.
- Punch him in the face: The best and simplest method to stop Firebreak in his destructive work is to simply give him a few punches. Run towards him and hit him with two melee attacks. That should take care of him and stop the reactor.
