The Destiny 2 Dawning event has started. It’s time to create all sorts of different treats and let your friends taste them throughout the solar system. But what recipes are there? Where can you find the ingredients? And who gets the baked goods?
Since the weekly reset on December 11, winter has come to Destiny 2. The snowy Tower has donned a festive outfit, and the Dawning event has begun. Everything here revolves around baking. With this guide, your Guardian will become a baking master.

How to Master Baking in Destiny 2
The first step to becoming a baking master: To start baking, you don’t need much. Visit the new NPC Eva Levante in the Tower. She is located in the Bazaar area of the Tower, to the left of Ikora Rey. Her festively decorated stand is hard to miss.
Talk to Eva. There you will find Eva’s festive oven and some ingredients that you can combine for your first recipe.
How baking works: The oven is very simple to operate. It has three different slots. The first two can hold different ingredients, and the third one needs the Dawning Essence, an event-specific consumable.
This way, you can mix different ingredients to create different baked goods. You can either unlock the recipes yourself or discover them by experimenting around.
Important: You can turn the oven into a masterpiece. To do so, you need to discover all the recipes. Then it will consume less Dawning Essence.
However, you should only do this after you have crafted and submitted the Burnt Edge Transits, the baked goods for Master Rahool, to the Cryptarch. Otherwise, you won’t receive the corresponding triumph.
How to bake your first treat: Everything you need for your first creation can be obtained from Eva. Simply add all the materials you received into the respective slots. Then you will get the first baked good, which you should take to Commander Zavala in the Tower. As a recognition of your baking skills, you will receive the event machine gun “Avalanche” with random rolls.
Afterwards, visit Eva again: There you will receive two new recipes and a kind of cookbook with all the other recipes that are yet to be discovered. You can also accept bounties there that will provide you with additional ingredients.
Additionally, there is the exotic quest for the new event Sparrow. You can unlock this with increasing baking progress.
What’s next: Now it’s time to earn various ingredients, process them into treats, and then deliver them to the right people.
How to Get Ingredients for All Dawning Event Recipes
The ingredients for baking vary depending on the slot. In the first slot of the oven, you need green, or common, ingredients; in the second, blue, or rare. For the third slot, you will always need Dawning Essence. Here’s how to get them:
Ingredients for the first slot:
- Vex Milk – through Vex kills
- Ether Cane – through Fallen kills
- Kabale Oil – through Cabal kills
- Chitin Powder – through Hive kills
- Possessed Butter – through Taken kills
- Dark Ether Cane – through Scorn kills
Not every kill guarantees an ingredient.
Ingredients for the second slot:
- Delicious Explosion – through kills from an explosion, meaning through rocket launchers, grenade launchers, or grenades
- Sharp Taste – through sword kills
- Incredible Heat – through Solar kills
- Electric Taste – through Arc kills
- Null Taste – through Void kills
- Brainwave – through generating orbs of light
- Personal Touch – through melee kills
- Perfect Taste – through precision kills or body shots with a sniper
- Bullet Spray – through kills with auto rifles, submachine guns, or heavy machine guns
Not every kill guarantees an ingredient.
The Dawning Essence for the third slot:
The essence drops in all activities. You can get
- 1-3 from patrols
- 3 from the escalation protocol
- 5 from public events
- 5 for completing the flashpoints
- 6 from heroic adventures
- 10 for completing the blind wells on heroic
- 12-17 from the haunted sectors
- 15-17 from heroic strikes
- 17-22 from Gambit
- 23 from a Nightfall strike
- 15-22 from the crucible
In raids and in the new activity “forge of the chain“, the amount of essence is not precisely known yet. Keep in mind that you can also buy the ingredients with glimmer in Eververse and then trade them for Dawning Essence with Eva.
All Baking Recipes for the Dawning Event Festive Oven and Who Gets Them
There are a total of 16 baking recipes in the context of the Dawning event. To spare you the experimenting, we have gathered them all here for you:
Gjallarhorn: This is your first recipe. Combine Ether Cane, Delicious Explosion, and Dawning Essence. Bring the sweet treat to Zavala in the Tower.
Evergreen Cake: Put Vex Milk, Incredible Heat, and Dawning Essence in the oven. You should take the cake to Failsafe on Nessus.
Vanilla Swords: Mix Kabale Oil, Sharp Taste, and Dawning Essence. Bring the baked goods to Lord Shaxx in the Tower.
Gentleman Shortbread: Mix Ether Cane, Perfect Taste, and Dawning Essence. This treat should be tasted by Devrim Kay in the church of the EDZ.
Eliksni Birdseed: Combine Ether Cane, Personal Touch, and Dawning Essence. You should bring the birdseed to Hawthorne in the Tower.
Burnt Edge Transits: Mix two ingredients that cannot be combined successfully (for example, Possessed Butter and Incredible Heat), and add Dawning Essence. The burnt cookies should be given to the Tower Cryptarch Master Rahool.
Traveler’s Quark Balls: Mix Kabale Oil, Brainwave, and Dawning Essence together. You should bring the sweets to Ikora in the Tower.
Dead Sugar Ghosts: These are made from Dark Ether Cane, Brainwave, and Dawning Essence. Bring them to Spider in the Tangled Shore.
Telemetry Tapioca: Mix Vex Milk, Bullet Spray, and Dawning Essence. You serve this baked good to the Gunsmith Banshee-44 in the Tower.
Radiolaria Pudding: This treat is made from Vex Milk, Electric Taste, and Dawning Essence. Bring the pudding to Asher Mir on Io.
Weird Cookies: Take Possessed Butter, add Electric Taste, and season it with Dawning Essence. The cookies go to Xur, the mysterious agent of the Nine.
Chocolate Ship Cookies: Mix Kabale Oil, Null Taste, and Dawning Essence. The baked goods will then go to Amanda Holiday in the Tower Hangar.
Alkane Dragee Cookies: These cookies are made from Chitin Powder, Bullet Spray, and Dawning Essence. Bring them to Sloane on Titan once they’re ready.
Unlucky Cookies: Mix Dark Ether Cane, Incredible Heat, and Dawning Essence. The cookies should then go to Petra Venj in the Dreaming City.
Javelin Moon Cake: You get this cake when you mix Chitin Powder, Sharp Taste, and Dawning Essence. Remember to visit Ana Bray on Mars with it.
Bitter Dark Particles: Mix Possessed Butter, Null Taste, and Dawning Essence together. You should definitely share your creation with the Wanderer in the Tower.
