SMITE revvs up and refuels. The game is getting a cart mode with wacky power-ups!
A battlefield of gods is already chaotic enough. Who wants to get in the way when Zeus is dueling Thor or Loki is finding out with Ratatoskr who can cause more mischief in the shortest time?
But the developers at HiRez apparently found it not chaotic enough yet. So what’s missing in a godly MOBA? Right, a racing mode! What feels like a belated April Fools’ joke is quite serious. With patch 4.6, SMITE is getting a new, temporary mode called “Apollo’s Racer Rumble”.
At least at first glance, this looks like a pretty amusing copy of the classic “Mario Kart” games. Whether it will play that way remains to be seen. At least the trailer makes you want more and will likely get some MOBA-weary players to spend some time in SMITE again.
Apollo’s Racer Rumble available for a limited time only
However, the mode is only temporarily available in the game.
- On PC, it is accessible from April 11 to May 9.
- On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it starts two weeks later, but ends a week earlier (understand that, who can): From April 25 to May 16.
Moreover, patch 4.6 also brings the “usual” goodies to the MOBA – new skins and voice packs.
Particularly impressive are the “Amazon Athena” skin and the “Winner’s Circle Apollo” in line with the racing mode. “Star Wars” fans will be excited about the new “Intergalactic Chang’e” skin, which strongly resembles Princess Leia Organa.
In terms of balancing changes, there is not much to report this time. The mage Hades is being reworked and will lose some of his health points but will deal significantly more damage with his abilities. A while ago, he was also a guardian (tank) – now he has become a fully-fledged mage.
The complete patch notes for patch 4.6 “Racer Rumble” can be found in our sources as usual.
Recently, there was an event in SMITE related to the Egyptian Pantheon.
