Ra is getting company. The god Thoth from SMITE takes the stage as a powerful magician.
SMITE continues to fire on all cylinders and is testing a new god in the current patch 3.21. This one is named Thoth and hails from the Egyptian pantheon. Despite his appearance, Thoth is far from a simpleton, being known as a keen observer and guardian of knowledge. In SMITE, he is a magician who specializes particularly in long-range combat.
Let’s take a quick look at his abilities:
- His passive ability Dead Reckoning allows Thoth to write the name of every defeated enemy in his book. Once he has collected 30 names, he gains 5 magical penetration, up to a maximum of 5 stacks.

- Hieroglyphic Assault enhances Thoth’s next 3 basic attacks. Until he has attacked 3 times, he ignores the penalty to movement speed while attacking. The 3 attacks penetrate multiple enemies and deal ability damage. When the attacks go through his “Glyph of Pain”, their range is increased.
- Ponderous Escape is Thoth’s mobility ability. He rushes in the direction he is currently moving (also backward, sideways, etc.) and his next attack is an enhanced projectile. Enemies hit by the charge are slowed for 2.5 seconds.
- With Glyph of Pain, Thoth draws a gate in the air that remains for a few seconds. All abilities fired by Thoth through the gate have an increased range and deal additional damage. Regular basic attacks from Thoth and his allies receive a lower damage bonus, but no increase in range.
- The ultimate Final Judgement allows Thoth to channel a spell that summons a total of 4 pages from his book. Once the 4th page is summoned, the spell automatically fires in a straight line and deals massive damage to all enemies in its path. While channeling, Thoth can be stunned. He can release the spell early to deal reduced damage – depending on the number of pages that have already been summoned.
The patch is expected to be deployed to the live servers next week – at least for the PC version. Console players will likely have to wait a few weeks longer for Thoth.
