SMITE introduces a new god from the Japanese pantheon, Susano, the god of summer storms and brother of Amaterasu.
Susano – God of Summer Storms
At the beginning of the year, SMITE decided to include another pantheon in the game. After Amaterasu, it’s now her brother’s turn. Susano, the god of summer storms, enters the battlegrounds as an assassin and will be added to HiRez’s MOBA with the patch 3.8 “Perfect Storm.”
Let’s take a quick look at his abilities.
- His passive ability Swift as the Summerstorm grants Susano 4% additional movement speed for each ability currently affected by a cooldown – so up to 16%.
- Storm Kata is a combo attack. Susano performs 3 different attacks and has 3 seconds each to activate the next part of the ability. First Attack: All enemies in a cone in front of him take damage. Second Attack: All enemies in a large circle around Susano take damage. Third Attack: Susano dashes a few meters forward (does not deal damage).
- Wind Siphon deals damage in a cone in front of Susano. Enemies in the center of the cone are then placed directly in melee range in front of Susano.
- Jet Stream shoots a whirlwind straight ahead that deals low damage on impact. If a hostile god is hit, the whirlwind stays with them and deals additional damage over the course of 3 seconds. Susano can reactivate the ability during those three seconds to reduce the cooldown and teleport to the whirlwind.
- His Ultimate Ability Typhoon summons a hurricane that grows over several seconds. Susano can then fire the hurricane in the direction he is facing to deal damage and briefly knock up affected enemies.
In summary, Susano is quite a fragile assassin who can deal his damage – similar to Loki – before enemies have the chance to react properly.
New Skins – Apollo as Rockstar
With a new patch, as is fitting for SMITE, several new skins are also introduced. This time Apollo receives an authentic rockstar skin with Vicious Apollo. Janus, the master of portals, enjoys a elemental form and will dominate the battlegrounds as Riftshaper Janus. Lastly, Loki has finally discovered his “fun side” and donned the attire of a jester with Joki Loki.
Apart from that, there are small balancing changes to existing gods and minimal price shifts on some items. For players of the Conquest map, it is important that the speed buff has been brought back into the game, which assassins have sorely missed.
The patch will be released on PC within the next few days, provided there are no issues on the test server.
