At SMITE there is a lot happening. A new event offers skins and quests, and the framerate on consoles is being drastically increased.
Better framerates and a small event
Since SMITE has also made its way to the PlayStation 4, the developers at HiRez are ramping up efforts to keep players entertained on all platforms. In April there will be a new event “Escape from the Underworld,” which thematically features dark skins and a small change to the arena mode. Additionally, there is good news for console players, as the maximum framerate is being increased. We have the details for you.
Hades corrupts the underworld
The grumpy god Hades is no longer content simply to reach for the living, so he is now luring gods into his underworld.
The visual centerpiece of this event is the new skins, which will be released throughout the month. Hades, Arachne, Nox, Hou Yi, and Guan Yu each receive a “dark” appearance that can be purchased in the shop for gems. Only 4 of the 5 skins will be available for direct purchase, the 5th will be “given” for free if all the others have been acquired.
The event also includes a handful of new quests and a “Sudden Death” mode that takes place at the end of each arena round. All players will be locked in a small ring for 60 seconds and engage in one last team fight. The winner receives additional followers at the end – but this does not change anything for the actual round winner.
The event begins on April 12, 2016 – how long it will last is still not known.
Smite with 60 fps on consoles
Another piece of good news for all console fans of SMITE is that HiRez has introduced a new option with the current patch. Those who want can have their PlayStation 4 or Xbox One display the game at up to 60 frames per second. However, they also warn that you should slightly adjust the sensitivity of the controls, as the changes are quite noticeable.
