In SMITE the Celtic pantheon sends the sexy forest witch Morrigan ahead and she can be anything – charming seductress or cruel avenger.
Almost a year has passed since Hi-Rez decided to include the Japanese pantheon in SMITE to create even more diversity among the characters. Now, in line with the Hi-Rez Expo, it has been announced that another pantheon will find its way into the game. With the next patch, Celtic gods will be added, starting with “The Morrigan”.
Morrigan “Phantom Queen” enters the battlefield of SMITE as a mage and has a very special ultimate ability that likely makes her the most flexible character in the entire game. Let’s take a brief look at her abilities:
- Her passive ability Prepare for Death ensures that the third basic attack deals area damage and curses affected targets, causing them to take additional damage over a few seconds.
- Three Aspects summons Morrigan’s other two aspects, which then stun all affected enemies in a pointed triangle.
- Doomsayer sends a wave of dark energy in a straight line. Affected targets are damned for 8 seconds, causing them to take additional damage from Morrigan’s next ability (including the passive ability).
- With Confusion, Morrigan creates a clone of herself that moves directly towards the targeted area. Morrigan herself gains stealth and increased movement speed. The clone does not deal damage and disappears once it takes damage. As soon as Morrigan takes damage, she loses her stealth and movement bonus.
- Her ultimate Changeling allows Morrigan to choose from all gods in the current match. Morrigan becomes a copy of this god and gains access to all their abilities and purchased items. If Morrigan uses the ultimate ability of the copied god during this time, the cooldown of that ultimate is simultaneously the cooldown of Changeling.
The patch “Path of the Morrigan” will be available on January 10 in the PC version of SMITE. Players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will have to wait another week, as Morrigan will arrive on January 17.
