This week, the new patch for the action MOBA SMITE went live, which not only includes some balance changes and a handful of new skins but also introduces a completely new goddess to the game: Medusa. And since it’s Easter, we are giving away a few keys to you!
A Priestess of Athena
Medusa was a priestess of Athena and was considered one of the most beautiful women ever. Her beauty was so unmatched that even the god Poseidon took notice of her. And when a god desires a mere woman, one had no choice but to comply back then. As punishment for her betrayal to the goddess Athena, Medusa was swiftly cursed by her. She received a serpentine visage, which was so horrifying to behold that it turned to stone all who looked upon her. And it is with this ability that the snake woman enters the battle.
Medusa – an Aggressive Huntress
On the battlefield, the half-snake benefits from her scaly lower body, which allows her to make sidesteps without restriction and also incurs only half the speed penalty while moving backward. Her ability kit is exclusively offensive.
- Her “Viper Shot” speeds up the next three auto attacks by 100 and adds a poison dot to them.
- Especially sneaky is “Acid Spray“, as it explodes at the first enemy hit and spreads its damage behind that target in an area; one can no longer hide behind minions to escape Medusa!
- “Lacerate” allows the goddess to sprint 55 feet forward and halt at the first god she meets to deal damage and reduce their healing received for a while.
- Her ultimate “Petrify” turns all enemies in a large cone area to stone (stun) after a short casting time and inflicts a lot of damage if they look in Medusa’s direction. If they look elsewhere, they only take half damage and are slowed. Especially cool: Those who die from “Petrify” leave behind a stone statue on the battlefield!
