Many changes are coming to SMITE. The classic “Conquest” game mode is being revised and fundamentally renewed.
The Conquest map is the primary game mode of SMITE. In the traditional 5v5 MOBA mode, teams compete across three lanes for victory on the map. However, until now, the Conquest map in SMITE was a special case, as it was not completely symmetrical. This meant that one side had (slightly) shorter paths to certain locations.
After the overhaul, the map is completely symmetrical.
In addition, the map will also be visually revamped. All buff camps have new creatures and especially the Gold Fury and the Fire Giant now look significantly more impressive.
But the fundamental look of the map has also been improved, as the conflict between Chaos and Order is now clearly the focus of the map. One half practically radiates “dark” energy, while the other side is illuminated by light. Last but not least, the jungle fog returns, which was present in earlier versions of SMITE. This makes it easier to see what players have insight into.
A small trailer gives a first glimpse of the changes to the Conquest map:
Cerberus the Hellhound will be the 93rd God in SMITE
SMITE continues to introduce playable gods at regular intervals. On January 9, the 93rd god will enter the battlefields, the Hellhound Cerberus. In Greek mythology, the three-headed demon dog Cerberus is the guardian of the gate to the underworld. He ensures that no living mortal can enter the underworld and that the dead cannot return to the world of the living.
Clearly, Cerberus is tired of this task with all three heads, as he will soon become a playable god in SMITE.
