The new god of SMITE, Cernunnos, comes from Celtic mythology. “The Horned” is a relentless hunter!
In SMITE, the release of a new god is imminent. After starting to implement the Celtic pantheon in the god MOBA with “The Morrigan” just a few patches ago, they are now adding a hunter with Cernunnos. Little is known about Cernunnos. He is considered the god of nature and animals, which is also reflected in his animalistic appearance. His name translates to “the Horned,” which is why he has been given an almost satyr-like appearance.
We take a quick look at Cernunnos’s abilities:
- The passive ability Heavy Glaive ensures that his attacks deal additional damage to all enemies in melee range.
- With Shifter of Seasons, Cernunnos can switch between 4 different stances corresponding to the seasons. Each stance comes with bonuses for automatic attacks:
- Spring: Physical lifesteal
- Summer: Additional damage
- Autumn: Debuff with reduced physical protection
- Winter: Slow
- Bramble Blast fires a projectile of thorns in a straight line that explodes upon hitting the first enemy, a wall, or the end of its flight path. The explosion deals damage and leaves a thorny area for 5 seconds, which slows and deals damage.
- Horn Charge is his movement ability. He charges forward in a straight line, piercing through all enemies and dealing damage to them.
- Cernunnos’s ultimate is The Wild Hunt. A large area is marked, and after one second, all enemies in the area are transformed into wild boars, silenced and disarmed.
Aside from that, the patch – as usual – brings a lot of new skins. Among them is a cool punk rock skin for The Morrigan and the gruesomely beautiful “Dreadful Doll” skin for Izanami. Loki, on the other hand, becomes a goblin and lures with a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
It will surely be a few days until the release of Patch 4.4 “Hunting Season.” There is currently no release date.
