The open beta of Skylords Reborn, the revival of the online strategy game Battleforge, has a launch date.
The online strategy game Battleforge was ahead of its time, as card-collecting games are quite popular today. However, Battleforge had to be discontinued in 2013 due to lack of interest. But a group of fans is bringing it back under the name Skylords Reborn with the permission of Electronic Arts.
Open beta for everyone
On January 30, the open beta will start, and anyone with an account in the official forum can participate. Skylords will be a free-to-play game. One of Electronic Arts’ conditions was that the developers are not allowed to earn money from the title. This means that the booster packs, which you get new cards from, can be unlocked with in-game currency.
Everything like before – with an outlook for future expansions
Skylords Reborn aims to stay as close to the original version of Battleforge as possible. You will still assemble a deck from cards that represent your units, spells, and buildings. With this deck, you will compete on battlefields like in a real-time strategy game to achieve victory.
Electronic Arts allowed the team to expand the game. However, all DLCs must be free, just like the card packs.
Initially, the open beta will start with the familiar base game. If you are eager to play Battleforge again, you can join the open beta of Skylords Reborn from January 30.
Many fans of the original Battleforge are looking forward to Skylords Reborn.
