The action MMO Skyforge is coming to PlayStation 4 in spring.
The Free2Play MMO Skyforge will be released for PlayStation 4 in spring 2017. This was just announced by my.com.
Skyforge is an action MMO that has been playable in open beta on PC since June 2015. You take on the role of an Immortal, who can switch between 14 different classes that he unlocks gradually. The goal is to become a god.
Skyforge is heavily focused on action. There are raids, PvP, everything you would expect from a modern action MMO.
What is Skyforge?
At first, Skyforge was an “instanced game” that relied heavily on action and grinding. It featured some relatively complicated systems in the area of character progression. So in the part that is considered the core of an MMO.
There was a huge skill tree with an incredible number of nodes – a kind of “champion point” system like in The Elder Scrolls Online, only much, much more complicated.
The way you progressed in guilds, the “Pantheons”, or commanded your own disciples, was astonishingly bloated and complicated.
There is no open world in the true sense in Skyforge. Skyforge takes place in “instances”, sometimes smaller, sometimes larger. For each mission, for each dungeon, you enter a different part of the world.
From a world map, the lobby, you select the instances and can experience your adventures there.

Skyforge is still instanced. But over time the systems have been simplified and clarified. The storyline is now more linear. Classes are unlocked gradually, allowing you to clearly determine the rise of your hero to godhood. The rewards are fairer, and the progression is easier to follow.
My.com has invested a lot of time and energy in the action MMO over the years, and you can see that in the game: Skyforge offers nonstop action today, just like it did in the past.
Skyforge should be an excellent fit for the PS4
The action combat system is intuitive, and the setting is somewhere between science fiction and fantasy. It has always been designed in such a way that one wondered: Why isn’t this available for consoles? Now the question is answered. Skyforge is coming to PS4 in the spring. It will be interesting to see how console players receive the Free2Play game.
The “action MMORPG” category is dominated by Neverwinter Online alone. A bit further away is The Elder Scrolls Online, a classic MMORPG. Farther still is “Final Fantasy XIV” with its tab-target combat system. Alongside these three games, Skyforge can surely offer an alternative and invigorate the market.
