From July 10, 2025, players of The Sims 4 can purchase a new expansion. With “Enchanted by Nature”, new plants, the Gardening skill, and fairies are coming to the game. However, the DLC is controversial among many fans.
What does the expansion include? The DLC focuses on nature. There are new clothing, furniture, and hairstyles inspired by nature, including fairy wings and special wooden doors.
- Your Sims can now live in nature, which perfectly aligns with the new aspiration “Nature Exploration”. With the “Natural Lifestyle” ability, all needs can be fulfilled outdoors – even if nature calls for a bathroom break.
- With the DLC, your Sims can become fairies. Thanks to the new aspiration “Fairy Tales”, characters can choose between the paths of Harmony and Discord.
- With the Herbalism skill, remedies for every possible ailment can be created. In addition, there is a new career in herbal medicine.
- There are three new neighborhoods that focus entirely on nature.
As is common with an expansion pack of this size, players have to pay 39.99 euros for the content. However, many fans find this price too steep.
Plants and Fairies Spark Discussions
What is the problem? The DLC finally includes the ability to water your plants indoors. However, many fans say this should have been included in the base game long ago. Under a YouTube video by SatchOnSims about the new DLC, many users vent their disappointment.

- dorotheapericulum1575 makes a pun with the name of the DLC: “Enchanted by Cashgrab.”
- Thorn_Mitchell is simply disappointed: “I don’t know how they managed it. I had no expectations, and yet they still managed to disappoint me. Somehow, I’m not all that surprised.”
The discussion flows in two directions: On one hand, some users believe the watering feature only applies to newly introduced plants. They think that the existing plants from the base game are still “plastic” and cannot be watered.
On the other hand, there are fans in the comments who have no desire to constantly water their plants. Those who want nothing to do with the DLC would prefer to keep their “plastic plants”.
Also, the traits that plant Sims now receive should have been included in the base game long ago, as many write. Plant Sims can now make plants bloom – a trait only available to expansion buyers. Furthermore, according to the YouTuber, it is still difficult to become a plant Sim.
Another point of criticism is that the supernatural beings in The Sims 4 are scattered across different expansions (via GamePro). In The Sims 3 there was the “Supernatural” pack, with which Sims could become werewolves, fairies, or witches. For such a large selection, fans of The Sims 4 have to dig much deeper into their pockets.
It’s no wonder that with all the criticism, many users write on Reddit that they will skip this expansion.
