Windows 11 can no longer be installed everywhere because the software’s hardware requirements have increased. However, there is a trick to bypass this “lock”.
Windows 11 is associated with high hardware requirements, making the upgrade option from Windows 10 unavailable for many systems.
Older computers especially suffer here, as the (still) free upgrade can no longer be installed. There is no Windows 11 even for comparatively newer processors or components.
But with a trick, Windows 11 can still be installed on old systems without needing to buy new hardware right away.
Bypass hardware check with an alternative Windows version
What is the trick? Microsoft offers a “Windows IoT Enterprise” version in addition to the “official” Windows editions. Microsoft markets this especially for small and specialized devices, such as ATMs (“Point of Sale” devices) or station displays that run on Windows.
A user now demonstrated on TikTok, as reported by GameSpot, that this Windows version can be easily installed on a regular desktop PC. The advantage: This edition can be installed without any issues, even with hardware components that are not officially supported by Microsoft.
Users only need to select the Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC Edition, a special version of the operating system designed for specific hardware. During installation, the hardware compatibility check is completely skipped.
Does this Windows version have disadvantages? No, Windows IoT offers the same experience as the regular Windows editions for private users.
Microsoft developed Windows LTSC for businesses and organizations that want to avoid the frequent installation of Windows updates or try newer features in their unfinished state. If constant Windows updates annoy you anyway, this might also be an option for you.
