The Closed Beta for Secret World Legends, the remake of The Secret World, is currently only playable by invitation from Funcom. However, now everyone can join, provided they have an active Secret World account “in good standing”: Those who meet the requirements will receive beta access or a beta key for Secret World Legends.
On June 26, Secret World Legends, the remake of the mystery/horror MMO The Secret World by Funcom launches. Anyone who wants to check out the game can immediately join the beta, as long as they meet two requirements.
Secret World Legends – Log into the old game and start in the new beta
According to a tweet from Funcom, all players who meet the following requirements are allowed to join the closed beta of Secret World Legends starting today:
- Active account with The Secret World
- The account must have “good standing”
An active account goes without saying. You just need to have purchased the original game The Secret World at least once and have your own account with Funcom.
But what is meant by “good standing”? This is where it gets tricky, as Funcom means that you must have logged into the game at least once in the last 30 days.
By the way, no direct advantages come from beta access: Progress will be wiped before the head start on June 23.
Beta Access – Why so complicated?
So anyone who wants to participate may need to download the old game and log in briefly. After that, an invitation to the beta should arrive, and you will then have to download the entire game again. Secret World Legends requires its own client.
This solution is not exactly straightforward, and many players are annoyed by this complicated approach when they could have just declared an open beta. Moreover, the beta is temporary because all beta characters will be deleted when the game launches on June 26. Additionally, the NDA for the beta is still active.
However, those who have already submitted an application for the beta or are already involved will receive early access from June 23 before the launch of Secret World Legends on the 26th. This also applies if the beta application has not yet been answered.
