After Xbox One owners have been participating in the technical alpha of Sea of Thieves for quite some time, the start of the PC alpha is finally approaching.
On Saturday, May 20, the first technical alpha for the PC version of the pirate online game will begin. The test will take place from 7 PM to 10 PM British Summer Time, which is 6 PM to 9 PM in our time. However, only those using Windows 10 as their operating system can participate. Additionally, you need to sign up on the official website of the game for the alpha and will be selected with a bit of luck. A total of 1,000 players can participate in this first technical alpha. This number is expected to increase over time.
Auto-detect of PC configurations is the focus
The focus of the test is partly on the system for automatically detecting the systems of PC users. With this “Auto Detect,” the game itself adjusts the optimal settings – which you can, of course, still modify. It is important for the developers to see how the system classifies the participants’ computers into low, medium, high, and Ultra settings. Therefore, the selection of those who can participate in the test also depends on their PC configurations. Both players with less capable PCs and those with high-end computers will be selected.
How good is the control with mouse and keyboard?
Another important point is the control with mouse and keyboard. The developers at Rare are already very eager for the testers’ feedback, based on which the controls will be further optimized. The state of the PC version of Sea of Thieves is in line with that of the Xbox One version, as both versions are being developed in parallel. The team is already teasing further tests, where new features will also find their way into the game.
If you are interested in participating in the first technical alpha of Sea of Thieves, then sign up on the official website and with a bit of luck, you could be among the first PC players to try out the pirate online game.
