Overnight, the indie game “Schedule 1” became a Steam hit, with many thousands of players trying to prove themselves in the drug trade. However, the game is still in beta, and many are waiting for new content. Now the time has come – the wait is over.
What have fans been waiting for? For new content, as Schedule 1 is still in beta. The simulation is still being developed before it goes into the 1.0 release, which is why key features that will make the game even more extensive are still missing.
Tyler, the sole developer behind Schedule 1 brought new features into the game with update 0.3.0, but it should not stop here. A survey of the community was to decide which features should be implemented next. The options were the cartel, a police update, or the implementation of mushrooms.
The former won with over 64% of the votes (440,000 fans voted), and now, after months of silence, Tyler has released update 0.4.0 with your new competition on the beta server so you can test it.

What changes with update 0.4.0? The biggest change of the update is the implementation of the Benzie family. This is a drug cartel that wants to push you out of business. The cartel will only intervene when you are no longer a small player. From that point on, you will have to deal with rivalries.
You will be robbed, attacked, and sabotaged if you start a war with them. However, if you have a truce, you can even trade with them, not just with the cartel itself, but also with their customers.
But the update also brings a new weapon, haircuts, a huge villa, and many adjustments to the AI, the police, and how the unlocking of the individual areas behaves.
The power dynamics have changed due to the cartel, and you are reliant on getting on their good side first; otherwise, you will not be allowed into new areas.
What else is planned? Tyler apologized in his blog post on Steam for the delay. The update took longer than expected. Additionally, the developer is also working on an update for the Steam Deck and a version for consoles – but no release date has been set yet.
How can I test the new content? To access the new content from version 0.4.0, you need to activate the beta branch on Steam. Here’s how:
- Start Steam
- Navigate to your library
- Hover your mouse over “Schedule 1” and right-click to activate “Properties”
- Now click on the “Betas” field
- Under “Beta participation,” select the beta branch
- You can now download the new update and benefit from update 0.4.0
