This is how you can download the alternative to PUBG, Europa: Ring of Elysium, now for PC and play the game in English.
The battle royale game Ring of Elysium has not yet been released in the West but is already making a name for itself as a “PUBG killer”. According to reports from early players, the game is said to offer “buttery smooth performance” and be a good, free alternative to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
We will show you in this guide how you can already play Ring of Elysium, even though there is no release in Germany yet.
What is Ring of Elysium / Europa?
In late 2017, Tencent introduced the game “Europa”, which has since changed its name to Ring of Elysium. You can expect a free-to-play battle royale shooter that strongly resembles PUBG, although it brings certain differences into play.
You will find a wider selection of weapons and their upgrades in RoE. Additionally, the game is said to run on weaker PCs as well.
Currently, Ring of Elysium is still in development and is available as a beta version in the Asian region. This actually means that we cannot participate in it. However, this can be solved with a simple setting. We will show you how you can now play RoE.
Ring of Elysium – Garena Game Download
Although RoE is only available in the Asian region, you can comfortably play the game on your PC. With a few simple steps, you can set up the official Garena client so that you can play yourself. The Garena software could be compared to Steam – however, you will only find games from publisher Tencent there.
- First, download the Garena Client from the official website
- In the client, click on Create Account (under the login prompt “Create Account”)
- After creating the account, log in with it in the client
- Now you will see a message that essentially says, “There are no games in your country, switching to Singapore now”
- You now see a few games, but still no Ring of Elysium
- Therefore, change the region in the settings (gear icon at the top right) to Thailand – then RoE should appear in the overview
- Click on the image of RoE and then select the green download button at the bottom
- After the download (about 5GB), you can start and play the game
You will notice that the game starts in Thai. However, players can still find their way around the game because the menus are intuitively organized. If desired, the language can be switched to English using an additional tool.
Ring of Elysium in English – How to Change the Language
In order to play Ring of Elysium in English, additional steps are required. In our example, you can use “Process Hacker” for this purpose. This is a kind of extended task manager that displays important information necessary for changing RoE to the English language.
Install the program and then start Ring of Elysium. Then switch out of the game with ALT+TAB and look for the process “Europa_Client.exe” in the Process Hacker overview. Right-click on it and select Properties.
Under the General tab, you will find the section for “Process”.
Below is the entry “Command line”. Click on the magnifying glass and then copy all the text that appears in the new window. Now create a new text document. There, paste all the copied text.
Search for the line “language=th” in it and replace “th” with “en”. Now select “Save As”, choose a name, and use the extension “.bat”. For example, “Ring of Elysium English.bat”. This special extension turns the text document into a batch file.
Double-click on this .bat file to start Ring of Elysium in English. You can uninstall the “Process Hacker” program after this change. Keep in mind that the game is currently only running on Asian servers. A ping of over 200ms is therefore quite normal.
