Patch 3.6 brings some new souls into the game world of Rift, including the Maelstrom – a shark that combines fire and water.
Maelstrom – A Burning Shark
In Rift, the major Update 3.6: Festival of the Chosen is coming soon, introducing 5 new souls into the game. One of them will significantly enhance the Primalist, namely the Maelstrom.
The Maelstrom specializes in dealing high damage to single targets, making it a typical single-target DPS soul. This is achieved through numerous spell effects that primarily utilize the elements of water and fire. For some spells, these elements are combined to deal massive damage with “Evaporate.” Other effects, such as the fire spell Excoriate, deal damage over a period of time, resulting in a lingering effect. To keep enemies at a distance, the Shockwave skill can be used to push enemies back for several seconds.
For (rather satisfied) laughs, the spirit pet of the Maelstrom is sure to provide, as the Molten Reaper temporarily places a shark’s head on your character. And those who have seen Sharknado know how dangerous sharks can be on land.
According to the introduction page about the Maelstrom, this new soul pairs particularly well with the Vulcanist to cause sustained fire damage at long range. Additional synergies can be achieved with the Berserker and the Dervish to deal significant damage over time.
Maelstrom and the other 4 souls, such as the War Singer, can be acquired as part of the Chosen Soul Pack for €35 once Patch 3.6 goes live.
