Marco Reus has again been named the Bundesliga “Player of the Month”: After September, the Dortmund player receives his second award in FIFA 19. However, the requirements for the second POTM version are frustrating fans.
This is the POTM for November: As in September and October, EA Sports announced the Bundesliga “Player of the Month” (POTM). Once again, a Dortmund player has secured the title: Following Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho is – Marco Reus. The Dortmund forward received a card with a 90 overall rating, which is certainly impressive.
Surprisingly, the result is not unexpected, as a Reus POTM promised the best card from a gaming perspective: Reus prevailed over players such as Sebastian Haller, Thorgan Hazard, Luka Jovic, Alassane Plea, and Ante Rebic. Although the choice is decided through a fan voting process, a large part of the community is dissatisfied with the selection. There are two reasons for this.
POTM Reus requirements are very high
This is how you get POTM Reus: To unlock Marco Reus in his second POTM version, you have to complete SBCs again. However, these have extremely high requirements: Among other things, teams with an overall rating of 86 and 87 need to be exchanged.
On “futbin“, the challenge is currently at nearly 800,000 coins. Sure, the card is already regarded shortly after release as one of the best Bundesliga options in the game – but especially for players who have the first POTM Reus, the SBC is causing frustration.
Because: Many players would have saved the coins from the first challenge if they had known that just two months later a better version of Reus would hit the market. Additionally, some users on Twitter wish that the old version could be exchanged for the new one via SBC. However, this is currently not possible.
“Again Dortmund”
This is how the reaction to the selection looks like: Besides the SBC requirements, the choice itself also causes some displeasure. While the first selection was received very positively overall, many FIFA players on Twitter are complaining about the repeat selection: “Great, FIFA community. Just choose the players with a good card and not those who deserve the award,” criticizes a player who accurately captures the tone of other critics.
Some comments saw players like Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Mönchengladbach ahead of Reus this month, while some would have favored Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt based on their performance. However, the selection turned out differently. For the third time in a row, a player from league leader Borussia Dortmund won the award.
Last but not least, other players were hoping for an announcement for the FUTmas event at 4 PM. However, this was postponed due to the POTM announcement. Now, an update on the Christmas event is expected at 7 PM.
