Google has decided to close its ambitious but unsuccessful gaming service Google Stadia: This will hit a player of Red Dead Redemption 2 particularly hard, as he cannot leave the platform and will be trapped with his account there. He has spent over 146 days in the game.
This is the situation:
- While Google promoted its gaming platform Stadia with a lot of money, the idea turned out to be a flop and the service is set to shut down in January 2023.
- While many publishers offer to transfer game progress in service games to other platforms, there was initially no such offer from Rockstar: Players spend thousands of hours in Red Dead Online, the MMO mode of the game: Although the game is hardly being further developed, it is like a perfect Wild West simulator due to its extremely high production values.
- After a player complained that he was losing 6,000 hours, Rockstar relented and assured him and others of rescue. But apparently not everyone. Because to switch from the dying platform, players must meet a condition, and Rockstar is strict about it.
Player does not meet the condition that would have led to his rescue
Who is now sinking with Stadia? As YouTuber ItsColourTV reported on Twitter, a Stadia player will tragically go down with the platform.
The player has spent 3,521 hours on Red Dead Redemption 2 on Stadia and has collected over a million dollars of in-game currency there. Additionally, 1,300 gold bars, the premium currency there.
However, his request to switch from Google Stadia to another platform was denied by Rockstar support, as Colour announced on Twitter, showing a message from Rockstar support.
To be allowed to switch, the player would have had to log in to Red Dead Redemption 2 at least once within the 30 days prior to the announcement of the end of Google Stadia.
Because he missed that, his account is now doomed to perish – unless Rockstar finds the heart to reconsider.
